IMPORTANT - Security Update for SPAM problem

Hello fellow Deep Space board members,

With regards to the recent wave of junk postings from automated SPAM bots that target the community board system we use (phpBB2), we have had to install some additional security software, which will hopefully prevent these nasties from reaching us anymore.

So when legitimate users such as yourself post on the forums for the first time, a question page will appear, please just answer it and your message will be posted as usual. The questions asked may change from time to time, but for now we are leaving them as either:

Q: "Are You Human" to which you should answer "Yes" (without the quote marks)

Q: "Say Hello" to which you should answer "Hello" (without the quote marks)

Depending on the type of browser you use and how your cookies are set, you may or may not have to answer this security question again. Again, the purpose of this is to defeat automated registrations that allow SPAM scripted attacks to automatically join our board and post messages on there.

While this solution is far from perfect, it addresses the immediate problems that had been plaguing us for the last week, and you should know that we are in the process of implementing a more user-friendly solution, which as all good things is unfortunately taking longer to customize, test and install.

We would certainly appreciate if you can report to us any kinks or weirdness while posting, we are hoping that the measures we have taken to address this scourge are effective, but also need to make sure that our legitimate users are not overly inconvenienced.
