If I add 'cover' art in Songbird, it doesn't show up in Traktor. If I add it in Traktor, it doesn't show up in Songbird... Different metadata fields, I guess. But is there any convenient way to get the artwork showing up in both? Some metadata editor that can batch copy so the art is where it needs to be for both programs?

The program I use for this sort of stuff is 'Tag&Rename' (PC only, if you don't have a PC just run a virtual machine image of XP on the likes of Parallels or VM Ware on your Mac)

Definitely embeds the graphics and Traktor will read it. Songbird it's questionable, not sure as to why but sometimes does, and sometimes doesn't but I do not understand this.

Yeah, Songbird is a little iffy with certain things...

On the OSX side, I found Media Rage, and art added in that shows up in Traktor; makes things a little easier to tag than in Traktor. Ultimately not such a big deal to me if the art doesn't show up in Songbird.

Also, FLAC and iphone users, I'm finding this app handy:

http://hammockdistrict.com/flacplayer

Very basic capability, but can decode/SRC up to 96/24 for iphone playback... So a nice way to digest recent adds while driving/walking/meandering, whatever their sample rate, without having to worry about format conversion.

[edit] Oh, never mind, just took a consistency check to bring them up in 2... [/edit]
